Third Annual
2011 GHS Art Gala

The Granville Health System (GHS) Foundation announced its third annual Art Gala raised $91,000 in support of the GHS Expansion Plan.

Jeff Gravley, WRAL-TV sports anchor, was Master of Ceremonies for the event, which attracted almost 200 corporate and community leaders throughout the region.
In addition to ten raffle items, the “Art of Living Well” Gala featured over 70 live and silent auction items that enhanced physical and mental well being. Trip packages for New York City and Charleston were auctioned, as well as weekend getaway trips to Kiawah Beach, Umstead Hotel and Spa, Grove Park Inn, and Bell’s Mountain Cottage in the Great Smoky Mountains of NC.

“The support shown for this event by the members of our community and many local businesses was greatly appreciated, and helped make the event a huge success,” said Gary Bowman, President of the Foundation Board.

Bowman said the annual gala is the biggest fundraiser for the Foundation in terms of the number of people involved and money raised for a single event. “Like all of our fundraisers, we use the money raised from the gala to support the work of Granville Health System. Last year the Gala raised $78,000. This year, proceeds from the Gala will support the Expansion Plan,” he said.

The Expansion Plan, a 32,000 square foot construction project, is the largest in the health system’s history. It includes a new Emergency Department that will grow from 3,135 to 18,000 square feet; expanded Surgical Services; a larger Laboratory Department; a new, larger lobby and admissions area; and additional patient and visitor parking. Construction on the project began in October.

“We are grateful to everyone in the community for their support,” said L. Lee Isley, Chief Executive Officer for Granville Health System. “Those who attended the Art Gala were treated to a wonderful evening of dinner and entertainment. In return, their financial contributions will benefit the hospital by helping to increase its capacity to meet the community’s growing demand for health care services.”
